The first “Architecture Week” was opened by prof. Aleksandar Stjepanović Member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Architects of Belgrade on May 6, 2006, in the crowded Art Gallery of the Cultural Centre of Belgrade. The program is conceived as a festival intended for a wide audience with the intention of bringing together and promoting good practices in architecture through exhibitions, workshops, discussions and thematic walks. The experiences of the first Architecture Week, the great interest of the citizens and the joyful atmosphere encouraged us to continue and here we are in the fifteenth year. The first edition of the festival ended with a panel under the title “Sava Amphitheatre”, dedicated to one of Belgrade's neuralgic points, which showed that it is necessary to develop an exchange of views with citizens, as well as a discussion within the architectural community about spaces of importance to the city, with respect for the opposite opinion, reconsideration of one's own and clear and summarizing personal views and initiatives. This type of dialogue dedicated to current topics initiated at the first BINA has become a recognizable programming model over the years to come.
